  • Standard Housing are made from NSF® and FDA grade materials;. The housings include buttress ¾” threads to prevent leakage on the inlet and outlets.
  • Accepts a wide range of cartridges including sediment, carbon and ceramic.

Standard filter housing - Most Frequently Asked Questions

Q – What rate of flow can I realistically expect through this filter housing?
A –
The rate of flow through a filter housing is dependent on the type of filter cartridge used, the quality of water and the available pressure. As a general rule, a 10 micron strung wound or Spun Polypropylene filter cartridge will provide a flow up to 24 litres per minute with 2 or 3 psi pressure drop when the filter cartridge is new. However, this flow and pressure drop may rapidly decrease as the filter becomes blocked. A solid carbon block cartridge will provide a flow of 10 to 15 litres per minute when the cartridge is new and the water is clear.

Q – Why would I choose a single housing over a duo, or triple?
A –
No single filter cartridge will remove all contaminants from water. If for example, the water contains a great deal of sediment (cloudiness) and it also has a poor taste / odour, a duo housing will allow for a larger micron rated cartridge to be inserted into the first filter housing and carbon block in the second. If in addition to the sediment / poor taste, the water also contains a moderate amount of hardness (up to 200 mg/l CaCO3) then a hardness reduction filter could be placed in a third housing. If the water, on the other hand contains just contains a moderate sediment and poor/ odour then a single carbon block cartridge rated at 10 micron would remove both contaminants, in which event, a single housing would be sufficient.
