Iron reduction cartridge

Naturally occurring iron in mains drinking water is rare. However, in some parts of the UK the metal pipes used to convey the water can suffer from corrosion. Corroding pipes can add iron to water. The iron can cause brown and / or black staining of sanitary ware and sometimes can cause orange staining of "whites" in a washing machine. In some cases high iron can cause a "metallic" taste. These cartridges will need changing every 3 to 6 months dependent on the amount of water used and the water chemistry. Please note, the flow through this filter is relatively low (4 to 6 litres per minute) which means it is best fitted in a filter housing that feeds a separate sink top drinking faucet.
